Our biggest purpose is to serve others, Genesis focuses on reaching out to the last, the lowest, the least both locally and overseas.
We are convinced that churches don’t exist for the people who are already a part of them, but for those that are not. Many of these are marginalized, living in loneliness, poverty, hopelessness and despair.
Mobile Soup Kitchen
Since early in 2002, we have operated our Grace Care mobile soup kitchen on Saturday afternoons, preparing and delivering hot meals and other food items to the homeless in the Patchogue area. This happens year round, whatever the weather.
Our Thursday morning Grace Care food pantry provides groceries for hundreds of people every month, operating out of the church building.
We have invested heavily in the impoverished town of San Marcos in the Dominican Republic for a number of years now. Missions teams from Genesis travel down to help in a number of ways at least twice a year. Health care professionals provide clinics, we have supplied filter units so that over 5,000 people now have safe drinking water, plus we have undertaken a considerable number of construction projects.
Genesis Church oversees a child sponsorship program that funds the operation of a Christian school in San Marcos and we are currently preparing for the next phase of building development that will enable the school to take in even more students.
'Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.' Proverbs 19:17 (NIV2011)
